A Business Card I Made And Don’t Really Use
It has been a whirlwind month. Two comic book store signings, Emerald City Comic Con, announcing Showdown at ComicsPro and promoting it every chance I get, writing/revising a script a week, doing lettering notes on a few comic projects, and my regular editing commitments. All of this has been AWESOME, but I have definitely been burning the candle at both ends.
This week I am doing less. Not nothing, but less.
The promotion for Showdown goes on, we have a little over two weeks before our Final Order Cutoff date of April 6th, 2026 to get the initial orders as high as we can. The great folks at our publisher Ignition Press, along with Tadd and I, are scheduling interviews, other promotion, and we are waiting to hear back from folks we sent the first issue of the book to, to see what they think about it. As you are reading this I am recording at least one podcast interview later on today.
I am now sixty percent through my next major writing project, by time Showdown #1 comes out on May 13th, my part of that project will be completed. This week I do not have a script in front of me to write but I am hoping to take some time to do development work. Reshaping pitches for comic projects from last year that didn’t quite make it through, and generating completely new ones. Some with artistic partners and some without. I feel great about Showdown and this project I’m writing, I owe it to myself and my career to make sure I do not have a long gap between the next longer form project.
There are two shorter projects I worked on that are going to be getting announced soon. One definitely in April, that one you guys are going to get a big kick out of I can feel it. The other one will be a hoot too. (That’s not code, I’m just using an old word for enthusiasm, I’m not the new writer on a prominent bird-themed character, I promise.)
Also, man, I just need to take a few days to catch up on my stories: TV shows, comics, movies, podcasts, and books. I’m caught up on The PItt but there’s a few other shows I am working my way through. My comic book stack got big these past few weeks I read around twenty single issues this week and I’m staring down a stack of ten I need to finish. All pretty fantastic stuff, comics is firing on all cylinders right now. As a big Ryan Gosling fan, and a fan of the genre “dudes in space” I am eagerly anticipating getting out of the house this weekend to see Project Hail Mary. One of my favorite podcasts The Rewatchables is deep into Chris Ryan month right now, that’s been terrific. And I’m going to finish one of these damn books on my night stand before the end of the month. I swear it.
We’re going to keep this one short and sweet this week and come back next week with a lot more to say, we’ll be in the single digit day countdown for Showdown #1’s FOC then so I will be even more excited. And maybe we’ll have more to show you?
Stay tuned.
Until then?
Stay safe!
