First Look At Hello Darkness #12

On July 9th the twelfth issue of Boom! Studios outstanding monthly horror anthology Hello Darkness comes out. That issue will feature my first published original comic story “Tiny, Little Men” which I wrote, was drawn by the brilliant Riley Rossmo, colored wonderfully by Inaki Apiazu, with letters by Shawn Lee, and excellent editing by David Mariotte.

The story follows an obsessive toy collector named Nicky, who starts off the story by stealing a toy from a young kid, and the universe will make sure he suffers the consequences of collecting little plastic versions of his childhood heroes, but not holding on to any of the virtues they tried to teach him. Boom was kind enough to give me the thumbs up to share the first page from the story below.

The story is awesome. It’s a short I have had in my head for a few years, and I was thrilled to get to do it in the pages of Hello Darkness. And to get to do my first ever original story with Riley? One of my favorite collaborators and dearest comic book friends? What a dream come true. I can’t thank Boom and David Mariotte enough for this opportunity, but I am going to keep trying!

The story is a little more intense and violent than what I have written before, so I wouldn’t hand this to a younger reader. But if you’re of age and already reading messed up stuff? This story is for you. You can go to your local comic book store and order it right now, and I recommend that you do. The Final Order Cut-Off Date for the issue is this Monday June 2nd.
